About Judd

November 16, 2011, Judd

Pregnant bikini contest, Blind Golf Champ, Famous Jewish-Alaskan Bodybuilder, ‘Hanging Out’ at a Nudist Resort, Interviews with Holocaust Survivors, A Drop-out Doctor Who Introduced Surfing to Israel, Interviews with Celebrities….

I’ve been blessed to have written about these captivating characters, and many others.

Thanks for checking out my article portfolio. I’ve been a freelance writer since 1997. I’m still waiting for that call from National Geographic and Time Magazine editors:  ”Judd, we just absolutely love your stuff. We’d love to offer you $10,000 per article; 1,000 words. Deadline flexible.”

Guess I’ll keep holding my breath and continue to write. Whether for money, or for joy, or both, I write. And I think everybody should (text messages not included).

Writing keeps the ol’ noggin sharp. It’s one of the best mental workouts. I’m a very physically-active person; writing is the perfect compliment for my cerebral workout needs. Some days, in fact, most, I don’t feel like the synapses are firing on all cylinders (does a brain have cylinders?), but writing, the labor of love that it is, reads best when it requires no effort; it just flows.

In addition to documenting eclectic people and events, I have a passion for health and wellness. I’ve authored over 100 freelance health articles. Read and forward my practical wellness blog, which I call Fit Friday (contact me to get on my mailing list).

I love this country but don’t follow the news much; it’s much too depressing. But there’s no hiding in a cave, shielded from the dreadful state of health that most Americans are in. I do believe, just as the Pentagon does (this is true!), that this (obesity) is a threat to national security.

So, it’s my intention that the information with my health articles will be shared and passed on to friends and family, spreading wellness and disease prevention consciousness. Many people are still nutritionally-illiterate. I think we all need to do our part in making the world a better place (aka, ‘Tikkun Olam’ , Hebrew for ’repairing the world’ ); it shouldn’t only be the responsibility of fitness trainers, nutritionists and other health professionals.

Playing in the ocean has also inspired me to write some meditations on surfing, some of which I’ve posted on my online surf shop, Divine Surf DesignBrowse for surf apparel. Read an existential surf journal.

I also enjoy helping small businesses with their social media, blogging and press releases. (I love this blog I wrote for an ice cream gift website.)

A dear person in my life, Trudie Richman, is a Holocaust survivor, poet and accomplished folk musician. I am editing her memoir, “Escape from Vienna” which should be published by Xlibris (ok, self-published). It will be for sale soon. Stay tuned.

I’m also in the process of editing a collection of wellness articles for a forthcoming e-book.

I hope there are at least a few articles in my portfolio that will both enlighten and entertain you. And yes, I will write anything for money, so if you need help crafting the “write stuff” drop me a line.

To your health and happiness,
